Candidate Q&A

Q1

What's your top priority, and what's your plan to achieve it?

As a current sitting Councillor, my top priority, working and collaborating closely with Council, is public safety and social issues that affect so many Monctonians. Council has, in conjunction with Codiac RCMP and the City of Moncton, introduced recent policing enhancements that will lead to better security and assistance to individuals struggling on our streets. i.e. Car 67 project, additional 24/7 Downtown officers on patrol, a new Drug Court (Provincial) and additional cleanup efforts throug

Q2

What is your plan to address homelessness in Moncton?

Easily, the most challenging and complex issue facing any City Council and to be clear — this requires many stakeholders — provincial and federal at the table. It's painfully obvious that without addictions and mental health support, many unhoused individuals on our streets continue to suffer. City Council has always stepped up with financial assistance where needed and some housing assistance through Provincial and Federal programs. The work will continue into the next administration.

Q3

Moncton's policing budget has grown significantly in recent years, yet concern about public safety remains high — how would you approach public safety spending as an elected official?

These staffing decisions are very much budget-driven by Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview, who co-share funding for the Codiac RCMP. I'm very optimistic and will support Codiac RCMP adding additional members to meet their needs. The 'onboarding' process continues presently with new rcmp members being allocated to Moncton.

How do you see Moncton growing over the next decade — where should we build, and how should people get around?

There are many capital projects currently on the table. A Moncton Convention Centre ranks high on the list for our Downtown. The St. George Street master plan is important, Vision Lands, and our infrastructure needs around the City require constant upgrading and improvements. Recreation facilities are always top of mind to mirror Moncton's increasing population — looking for healthy alternatives and activities.

How will you make life more affordable for Monctonians feeling financially squeezed?

Where do you think the city can generate new revenues or find cost savings?
