I have two top priorities. 1/ Improve access to those with more severe disabilities as the access for those on the severe end of the disability spectrum is almost non existent. 2/ Improve our homelessness situation.

Homelessness support is currently extremely piecemeal, and it often revolves around specific areas not being addressed and people falling through the cracks. My main interest in homelessness is to create a homeless "shelter" that is more in line with an apartment, where each homeless person/couple/family has their own unit with lockable doors, etc. Then, within this building or set of buildings, have access to all necessary services to allow them the tools to get back on their feet. I have been fairly open over a number of years that I believe Moncton needs to return to a municipal force. The RCMP is a federal force, contracted to honor federal responsibilities and, to a smaller degree, is directed by provincial policies. Moncton appears to be one of the fastest-growing cities in the Maritimes and the fastest in New Brunswick. We have to acknowledge that building is going to require a twofold approach, both up and out. Apartments and condos are going to be an important part of our growth strategy; however, we have to realize that not all families are suited for an apartment lifestyle, and we are going to also require a significant growth in the amount of single-family standalone homes as well. I would like to be involved in supporting the move to or the introduction of a municipal police force. I would also like to be involved in the direction of the development of the Vision Lands, as well as the parks and trails running through them.

It is very difficult to create policies to make life more affordable for Monctonians. Things that can be looked at include more free/low-cost recreational/entertainment programming to allow Monctonians the ability to participate, without the sometimes exorbitant costs.

New revenues can be generated by encouraging new businesses to set up within our borders, for example, actively working to attract filming increases revenue for local businesses, as well as potential licensing and permitting fees. Cost savings can be generated by moving away from a contract-out type system to an in-house project system. Also, projects like moving towards underground wires could reduce the repair and maintenance costs, especially in weather events.

I would have liked to see the introduction of an integrity commissioner; however, unlike the plan that was presented, the commissioner does need to have the ability to make final rulings rather than recommendations to council.

I am a strong disability advocate, and my focus will often be on improving accessibility, most specifically addressing deficiencies in current accessibility concerns, as well as addressing failures to create programming that is inclusive for those on the most extreme end of the disability spectrum.
