Candidate Q&A

Q1

What's your top priority, and what's your plan to achieve it?

My top priority is building a safer, stronger Moncton where residents feel secure and supported in their daily lives. To achieve this, I will focus on practical solutions: strengthening community safety, improving infrastructure like roads and lighting, and ensuring city services respond effectively to residents' needs. My approach is grounded in my campaign message: Listen to the community, Review the challenges carefully, and Act with clear and responsible solutions.

Q2

What is your plan to address homelessness in Moncton?

Homelessness is one of the most urgent challenges we face. It requires both compassion and action. I support a coordinated approach that brings together municipal, provincial, and federal partners. This includes increasing access to housing, supporting frontline organizations, and addressing root causes such as mental health, addiction, and affordability. We need practical, human-centered solutions that restore dignity and stability.

Q3

Moncton's policing budget has grown significantly in recent years, yet concern about public safety remains high — how would you approach public safety spending as an elected official?

Public safety is essential, and residents expect results. I support responsible investment in policing to ensure visibility and responsiveness, but also believe safety goes beyond enforcement. We must invest in prevention—community programs, mental health supports, and partnerships that reduce crime before it happens. Every dollar must be used effectively and with accountability.

Q4

How do you see Moncton growing over the next decade — where should we build, and how should people get around?

Moncton is growing quickly, and that growth must be managed wisely. We need balanced development—more housing, stronger infrastructure, and well-planned neighborhoods. Growth should support families, businesses, and newcomers while maintaining the quality of life that makes Moncton special. Transportation and accessibility must also improve to keep our city connected and efficient.

Q5

Which major developments do you plan to support in the next four years?

I will support developments that reflect smart growth—projects that increase housing supply, support economic development, and improve infrastructure. Each development should be carefully reviewed to ensure it serves the community's long-term interests and aligns with responsible planning.

Q6

How will you make life more affordable for Monctonians feeling financially squeezed?

Affordability is a real concern for many families. I will focus on increasing housing supply, supporting local businesses, and ensuring city spending is efficient. By managing growth responsibly and encouraging economic development, we can help ease financial pressure on residents.

Q7

Where do you think the city can generate new revenues or find cost savings?

We need to manage resources wisely. Cost savings can come from improving efficiency and prioritizing essential services. At the same time, we should focus on growing our economy—supporting businesses and attracting investment—to expand our tax base without increasing the burden on residents.

Q8

What's a decision Moncton council has made in the last four years that you disagreed with, and what would you have done differently?

I believe some decisions could have benefited from stronger community consultation. As a councillor, I will prioritize transparency and engagement—ensuring residents are heard before decisions are made, not after.

Q9

Outside of the issues above, what's one thing you'll be focused on that voters might not expect?

Building stronger community connection. A successful city is not just about infrastructure—it's about people. I will work to bring communities together, strengthen dialogue, and ensure every resident feels included and represented.

Q10

Tell us something about yourself that voters wouldn't find on your campaign website.

Much of my work has been behind the scenes—supporting individuals and families, helping newcomers settle, and working directly with people during difficult times. These experiences shaped my commitment to service and my understanding of real community needs.

Q11

Final word?

Moncton belongs to all of us. If we work together with respect, responsibility, and a shared vision, we can build a safer, more inclusive, and more affordable city. My commitment is simple: Listen • Review • Act.
